Surgery Clinic

We know surgery can be a very stressful experience. Our surgeons perform a range of procedures at Guttenberg Municipal Hospital & Clinics so you can be close to home, from surgery through recovery.

Our Surgery Clinic is conveniently located on the second floor of the hospital in our Surgery Department. General surgeons at GMHC provide inpatient, outpatient and laparoscopic surgical services. For patient convenience, additional procedures such as cataract removal, podiatry and orthopedic procedures can be performed at GMHC by visiting specialty surgeons.

We are dedicated to making your surgical experience a successful one and we will make you as comfortable as possible during your stay with us.

In addition to two spacious operating rooms, GMHC offers deluxe same-day surgery suites for outpatient procedures. Comfortable, state-of-the-art hospital rooms, skilled care for extended stays, and physical therapy are available to help you through recovery and rehabilitation.

General Surgery

GMHC partners with our General Surgery Clinic in an environment dedicated to comfort, safety and respect. General surgical procedures include gall bladder removal, hernia repair, bowel procedures, hysterectomy, breast surgery, skin biopsies and endoscopy procedures including colonoscopy and upper GI endoscopy.

Laparoscopic Surgery

Laparoscopic procedures are also performed at GMHC. These minimally invasive surgical techniques reduce the amount of time spent in the hospital and promote quicker recovery. Laparoscopic procedures include appendectomy, cholecystectomy for gallstones, and other minimally invasive abdominal procedures.

Minimally Invasive Robotic Surgery

The da Vinci® Robotic Surgical System is a console that allows the surgeon to perform surgery with easier access, greater precision and control, increased range of motion and an enhanced view. Because of the magnified, high-resolution 3D image of the surgical site, the surgeon is able to make the smallest of incisions – about the diameter of a pencil. The computer translates the surgeon’s hand movements into precise micro-movements, so there is less injury to the surgical site. It’s important to know that a robot is not at the controls. The system cannot act on its own. Instead, the surgeon controls every aspect of the surgery.
